When we moved from R6 to R7 and not from R7 to R8 we updated at first the server like mentioned from IBM. BUT such a upgrade will also remove the Help DBs. But many user need them, because there client level ist R7.
What I wish is a option in the Setup which can be set, so that the "old" Help DBs will not be removed during the update.

just yesterday I manually deleted my 6.5 help files. I left R7 in place.

Starting with 7.x, Domino installs uninstall previous releases. So, we need the same option for templates.
It's normal to update servers before clients; so, clients are frequently using older versions of templates -- such as mail7.ntf or mail6.ntf.

I know the client leaves the old files in-place. I haven't noticed it on the server upgrade before. Interesting...

The server removes the helpfiles - but leaves their fulltext directories in place. Just ugly.
