If you save and delete attachments within a mail message, you have to then close the message saving your changes and then re-open it to reply (I think the same if you reply first then want so delete attachments). Notes knows what you are trying to do, because the message tells you, so why do I need to save at all before replying (deleting)?

I would be interested in why those who have voted against this think that it's a bad idea. Or, conversely, can they explain why they think it is a good idea for people to have to go through so many unnecessary extra actions? Actions that no other mail client that I have ever used makes you do. Actions that, moreover, the client actually knows that you need to do because of the error message it gives, and that there is no way of avoiding. I know that the message has changed, I changed it, and I now want to forward / reply / delete attachments. Why must I be forced to save and re-open? It makes no sense. I do this frequently in Thunderbird (and did it in Outlook, Pegasus Mail, Eudora, ...).
