Stamp correct timestamp on mail retrieved via POP

Currently mail retrieved via POP gets the date/timestamp of when it was retrieved via POP, not the date/time it was delivered to the mailbox  This effectively changes the date/time it appears to have been sent, ruining the fidelity of the message as well as dimishing the value of the date/timestamp.   (though if you delete the message and then view it in the trash folder, it does display the correct date/timestamp in the header there.)  
This is a real problem when replying or forwarding a message as the date/time stamp of the original message does not match what the original sender expects.
Please correctly map these fields in mail retrieved via POP.
