If I create a new email with an attachment from my local disk or a network share, I will have the file twice (one in the files system and second in my notes database) on my system, after sending and storing the sent email. What if I could choose that attachments in created mails are sent, but only saved with the information
[attachment "Domino.pdf" from "X:\folder2" deleted after email was sent]

I guess one problem would be compliance and auditing - if the company requires all email to exist in original form then altering it could break that requirement.

This would really need to be an admin policy option, and not under user control.

I have had user environments where Notes mail has become almost the primary file store for users - they go the other way and keep the attachment in the mail and delete it from their folder space, as the email copy has all the useful metadata around it like some comments to/from a person, and also with whom they have been working on it.

I am neutral on this - neither promoting or demoting.

I think what you're saying is you would like an automatic cleanup of attachments on Sent mail. That is something I might go along with.

no, its more like DAOS on the server and there it isn't a compliance think, is it?
